The Defiler is a Thrall that has been transformed into a demon by a Ragebringer's Demonic Potential ability. As with all summons, it cannot be revived, however the Defiler is a rather powerful monster capable of doing several roles in the enemies' party. Their high health makes them rather hard to kill, their Infernal Flames skill lets them hit most of your party members and their assortment of stats can cover most other loose ends. Occasionally it appears in Act IV as a standard, non-summon enemy.

StrategyEdit

The best strategy to deal with them is to stop them from appearing in the first place, though as an enemy that appears later in the game the battles tend to drag out long enough for them to come anyways if you are using an on-the-fly strategy. Situational moves, such as disintegrate, work the best but stuns do not last long. Draining power from the Defiler has limited use as well since it can still do damage with it's Attack ability, and it can steal power back using it's Defiling Strike ability. It may be best to try and slow it down as much as possible while you concentrate on other enemies if you are unable to do serious damage to it. The Ragebringer gives lots of buffs to the Defiler and they are more fragile so it is best to target them first before trying to tackle their summon. Other demons such as the Fearsower and the Doomcaller also gives the Defiler dangerous buffs but are more fragile than the Defiler.

AbilitiesEdit

  • Attack: Melee attack for physical damage to target. Physical Damage increases with level of Monster.
  • Infernal Flames: Deals fire damage on target and applies the Fire Condition "Ignite" (x damage per second, -10% Damage Protection, -5 Quickness, 3 seconds duration). Fire Damage based on level of Monster. Costs 60 Mana.
  • Defiling Strike: Melee attack for physical damage to target, and drains 30 power from target. Physical Damage increases with level of Monster. Costs 10 Mana.
